The Lake County Mounted Posse is a horse club based in Lake County, IL. Most of our members are from northeastern Illinois and southeastern Wisconsin. The club has been in existence since 1957.
The object for which this club was formed is to maintain and carry on a club for the promotion and better use of horses; to keep alive the spirit of the "Old West"; to encourage the motto of "Horsemanship, Sportsmanship and Citizenship"; to sponsor and promote the sport of horseback riding through activities such as horse shows, trail rides, parades, play days, camping trips and other wholesome mounted sport; and to promote acquaintance and friendship among horse owning people.
If you are interested in joining our club, you can get the forms from this website, or you can attend one of our meetings and pick up a membership application. You can also email us from this website for more information. The main requirement for becoming a member is that you own a horse.
The General Meetings of the Lake County Mounted Posse are held on the second Wednesday of each month at In-laws restaurant in Gurnee, IL...located at routes 132 and 21. (There are no general meetings in June, July and August) The meetings start at 7:30pm. Come early, have dinner and meet some LCMP members. We try to have a guest speaker or fun activity at each meeting.
Check Posse Communications for the location of the board meetings. If you plan on attending a board meeting, please notify the president of the club so you can be put on the agenda.
